My Story

Presently retired I am originally from Minnesota ( the setting for both of my novels) but moved to the Northwest with my family when I was young. I completed my undergraduate work at Gonzaga University with a double major in English and Theater, received my MA in Theater Arts from Washington State University and continued my doctoral studies at Northwestern University.  An educator for over thirty years, I have devoted my life to teaching English and Theater to young people.  I am an actor, director and devoted supporter of theater and education on all levels. I have always loved writing and now, given the time, I have published two novels and I am presently working on a third.

I hope a brief glimpse into ’Tis More Than Luck and Barnaby Shea (both are self-published through KDP and are available for purchase on Amazon) might pique your interest and send you off to Amazon to take a look. The first novel, ’Tis More Than Luck, is, among other things, a coming-of-age story. It is set in a small Minnesota farming town and might be described as a cross between a novel and a collection of short stories. The second, Barnaby Shea, is also set in Minnesota but is a mystery and, I suppose, a love story. Our hero, Barnaby Shea, discovers all too soon that once an accusation is made the damage is done and he must solve a thirty year old mystery if he is to clear his name.

IN THE PRESS

Barnaby Shea takes the reader into the tangled conundrum of right and wrong. Reader, you will have to arrive at your own moral judgment of the damage done by truths and half truths to a person's reputation and their soul. Be prepared to encounter a writer of poetic dialogue that crackles like a live wire, and moves the action and the emotions. In this day and age I'd make Barnaby Shea required reading.
